For learners and creators

Condegram: language learning through reading.

Condegram begins with a simple idea: understanding a language means understanding words in relation to one another, in sentences and in texts that have something to say.

It brings together two kinds of work: learning from carefully prepared material, and creating that material. Learners can follow courses or read books with support close at hand. Teachers, authors and content providers can prepare and refine the texts, translations and explanations that make this possible.

For learnersHow it worksFor content creators

For learners

A language, encountered through meaningful texts.

Some learners prefer a carefully sequenced course; others want to read a book that already interests them. Condegram brings these approaches into the same reading environment. You can keep translations and explanations visible, or consult them only when you need them.

Courses

A course provides a structured path through a language. Lessons bring together sentences, translations, recordings and explanations, so that new vocabulary and grammatical patterns can be understood in context rather than learned as isolated facts.

Books

Reading books is at the heart of Condegram: a sustained, efficient way to build a substantial vocabulary. A longer narrative brings words back in different situations, allowing their meanings and uses to become familiar. Help with an unfamiliar expression is available beside the text, reducing the need to interrupt reading to consult several separate resources.

News

Coming soon

We are planning a daily newspaper for language learners, with articles prepared for different levels of knowledge. The aim is to make regular reading part of everyday life: following subjects that matter to you while continuing to develop your language. This part of Condegram is not yet available.

How it works

Read first. Look more closely when you need to.

The original sentence remains the point of reference. Translation, sound, vocabulary and grammar are brought alongside it, rather than taking you away from the text. The screenshots below show a Spanish sentence with explanations in English.

The Spanish sentence Podemos sentirnos orgullosos, amigo, its English translation, and the listening, translation, grammar, notes and editing icons.
One sentence, with its translation and a small set of reading tools. Select any screenshot to view it at full size.

The icons beside the text

The tools shown depend on the reading view and the material available for each sentence.

Listen
The speaker plays the sentence recording, where one is available. It lets you return to the sound of an expression as you read.
Translation
The language symbol shows or hides the translation. This makes it possible to try reading independently, then check your understanding.
Word by word
The horizontal lines switch to a more literal translation, helping you follow the order and contribution of individual words. Select it again to return to the natural translation.
Pronunciation notes
The ear opens an explanation of pronunciation: what to listen for and how particular sounds or combinations are pronounced.
Approximate pronunciation
The Aa symbol switches between phonetic transcription (IPA) and an approximate pronunciation written with familiar spelling, when both are available.
Grammar
The academic cap opens a grammar note about this sentence. It explains a pattern where you encounter it, rather than asking you to leave the text for a separate grammar chapter.
Notes and feedback
The note symbol lets learners record a thought privately or send feedback to the Condegram team directly from the sentence. A question or correction can therefore remain attached to the passage that prompted it.
Edit · for content creators
Content creators with editing access see the pencil. They can correct or refine material directly while reading, without having to leave the passage and search for it elsewhere. It is not a learner editing control.

From a word to its meaning

A word explanation for Spanish podemos: the verb poder, its meanings, and its first-person plural present form.
Select an underlined word to see its meaning and the form used in the sentence. In this example, podemos is connected to poder, “to be able to”. The explanation keeps the word connected to what you are actually reading.

From a sentence to its structure

A grammar note explains Podemos sentirnos orgullosos, amigo, with the relevant Spanish words highlighted alongside their explanation.
A grammar note explains how the sentence works. Highlighted expressions connect the explanation to the original words, while the word-by-word translation offers another way to examine their relationship.

For content providers and creators

A place to prepare material, not only to read it.

Condegram is also a workspace for teachers, authors and others who prepare language-learning materials. Creators can develop their own courses or books, bringing their knowledge of a language and their understanding of learners into the reading experience.

Clear, step-by-step wizards guide the preparation of a text: organising it into sentences, adding translations, explaining grammar and preparing pronunciation guidance. The work is divided into manageable stages, rather than presented as one complicated task.

The lesson wizard makes each stage of preparation visible, from the source text to the finished material.

AI to help you with creation

At each step, creators can ask AI to assist with the work. It can offer a starting point for translations and explanations; the creator can review, correct and refine the result.

The aim is to make preparation less laborious while leaving editorial decisions with people who know the material.

A conversation with Condegram

The learner and creator sides meet at the sentence. A learner can ask a question or point out a difficulty; a creator with editing access can revisit the passage and improve it on the spot. Reading and the careful preparation of learning materials become connected activities.

If you would like to discuss using Condegram for learning or contributing material, we welcome questions and conversations.
